The American Psychological Association describes hypnosis as a cooperative union where the client responds to suggestions for change initiated by the trained and skilled hypnotist. Hypnosis is used to reduce pain, anxiety, fears, phobias, and used to promote weight loss, as well as end unwanted habits.

How it works.

With hypnosis the conscious or critical mind is put aside, and the unconscious or subconscious mind comes to the forefront. Suggestions are skillfully implanted in the subconscious mind while the client relaxes in a trance like state. This state is induced by the hypnotist, yet the client is always in control. If they do not want to be hypnotized, they will not allow the trance state to occur. Actually, hypnosis helps people to be more in control, and more focused contrary to popular myths. No one can make you act like a chicken unless you want to.

Since change happens at the unconscious levels of mind, hypnosis is highly effective as a tool to promote change. It is fun and relaxing as well, with no unwanted side effects.

Sally is a certified consulting hypnotist, certified by the National Guild.
